Accessibility Statement

Common Ground Appalachia is committed to making our website and our work as accessible as possible.

Informed by lived experience, we strive to center accessibility across all aspects of our approach to ecological education and land stewardship.

Given the many ways people access information and environments, our goal is to reduce barriers. We support a wide range of needs and will continue improving accessibility as our capacity grows.

Accessibility in our Programs

Accessibility is not limited to our website. We apply accessibility-centered thinking across our programs, including:

  • Designing physical spaces and projects with adaptive use in mind

  • Documenting both successes and challenges related to access

  • Valuing lived experience as a source of ecological knowledge

  • Treating accessibility as an ongoing design process, not a fixed outcome

Website Accessibility

We aim to make this website accessible and usable for people with diverse abilities, including those who use assistive technologies. In building and maintaining this site, we strive to:

  • Use clear, readable language and a consistent page structure

  • Maintain sufficient color contrast and legible text sizes

  • Provide descriptive alt text for images when they convey information

  • Ensure navigation works with keyboards and screen readers

  • Avoid unnecessary animations or auto-playing content

This site is built using the Squarespace platform, which provides a baseline of accessibility features. We actively work within and beyond those defaults to improve usability.

Ongoing Improvement

We understand that accessibility is not static. As an early-stage organization, we are learning and improving as we grow. We welcome feedback and are committed to addressing accessibility issues when they are brought to our attention.
